Arsenal took to the field this Wednesday (19) knowing that only one victory would keep them alive in the last round of the Premier League for a spot in some international competition next season. And the victory over Crystal Palace by 3 to 1 came in extra time, with the spark of Gabriel Martinelli. The result left the Gunners in ninth place on the table, with 58 points
In an open game, Arsenal came out ahead of the score, with Pepe, in the 35th minute of the first half. In the second stage, Benteke drew for the hosts. Gabriel Martinelli left the bench on 33 minutes and, on 46, scored the goal that put Arsenal in front of the scoreboard. There was still time for Pepe, again, to score the third and enshrine the Gunners’ victory.
Martinelli talked about his moment. “Today I was able to score the goal of our team’s turn, in a fundamental victory for us. We knew that it was a fundamental and decisive game for this final stretch of the season, and that the victory would leave us alive for the last round. I was able to enter the game and helping the team, which is the most important thing. I always try to be prepared to take advantage of opportunities when they arise”, he said.
